# Cell segmentation lifecycle

> Discover credit-free segmentation state and latest layer artifacts for an owned sample.

Use `POST` on the same path to start or retry segmentation. The mutation is state-idempotent, observes a retry cooldown, and rejects public sample handles. Completed layers expose a separate manifest for uint32 masks, cell geometry/morphology, and per-cell marker expression.
